Top 100 Article Syndication and Press Release Websites

August 3rd, 2009

I hope the previous post on link building was informative. Today, I offer a post on online marketing with articles and press releases.

If you have stumbled upon articles and press releases on varying topics, products and services, I assume you must have also noticed a bio box and byline at the bottom of the write-ups. This bio box lets you place your profile (author’s profile) and contact information with a link to your business’ website. Well-written and content-rich press releases and articles released for free distribution have the potential of increasing your business’ credibility within its market as well as attracting new clients.

Advertising through articles and press releases dates back to a time when the concept of mass print came into the picture for the first time. Now the technological revolution has offered us a platform to advertise and promote our business through online articles as well. This, actually, is an advantage we have over our forefathers that allows us to reach a global audience through the internet.

There are hundreds of press release and article submitting sites, both free and paid. Once your article or press release is published you can share and bookmark the published links to your various social media profiles and social bookmarking sites. Sharing with social media sites allows better visibility for your articles and press releases that produce more back links.

While submitting your articles or press releases to various sites, make sure you place the relevant keywords in each article or press release. Search engine optimization (SEO) takes account of the order in which your web pages are ranked whenever keywords or phrases are typed into search engines. The higher a page ranks, the higher the probability that the page will draw a greater number of site visitors. Accordingly, the increased traffic often translates into sales. Article and press release marketing has proven to be useful and effective for online marketing ventures.

Who knows, there just might be a creative writer within you. Alternatively, professional writers are always readily available to help promote your business as well.

Link Building Activity

July 27th, 2009

Hello people, I hope by now you already have created profiles in Facebook and Twitter as a bare minimum. And I would be very happy to read your comments on your experience with various social media sites. Please do share your experiences with the fellow readers too.

Today, I’m here with my write up on link-building activity. Link-building activity is the most popular activity for your website’s search engine optimization (SEO) as it increases your website’s page ranking and brings more visitors. It is also as popular with online marketers for promoting their product or service. So guys, I’m gonna take you through the basic but effective link-building activities that you can actually get going with a little effort from your end.

One-way linking

You must have noticed links to various author’s websites while reading through articles. These links direct you to the author’s or the company’s website. It is a hyperlink that directs to your website without any reciprocal link. The best way to build this type of linking is by publishing articles and press releases as these will allow you to add your company’s link.

Another best practice for one-way linking is through forum signature and posting comments in blogs and other Web 2.0 sites for building backlinks to your website.

Reciprocal linking

This is a symbiotic linking relation between two websites. If you link to my website and I link to yours then our websites are reciprocally linked. Reciprocal linking is very important for SEO as Google uses link popularity algorithms (defined as the number of links that led to a particular page and the anchor text of the link) to rank websites for relevancy. There are plenty of reciprocal link exchange directories wherein you have to submit your website and make a profile, and soon after you can request the websites of your relevance and interest to exchange links with yours. Accordingly, you will also be getting requests from others.

Relevant linking

Relevant linking is a kind of reciprocal linking where you link only to those sites which are relevant to your product or service. Google counts “quantity, quality, and relevance of links” for your page ranking.

Multi-way linking

It is another method of link building which allows you to create several non-reciprocal links among at least three partner websites.

Link campaign

You can ask your strategic partners, professional organizations, chambers of commerce, suppliers, and customers to add links from their web sites.  You can also post videos, images, or RSS feeds on your partner sites. A link campaign may involve mutual links back and forth between related sites, but it doesn’t have to require the reciprocation of links.

The main objective of link building is to help you achieve your marketing goals by directing targeted traffic to your website. However, you should avoid over linking because too many hyperlinks will do more harm than good by diverting your potential customers to other sites before they view your page. Hence, the best way is to link only to the sites of your interest and have a high page rank.

Lastly, if you feel that you have the time and skill to build your link campaign then it is best to start it right away. If not then you can always take the help of professional SEO or online marketing services.

So, my dear friends I hope this post has given you some basic understanding on linking. I’ll be back with more detailed posts.

Till then keep visiting this page and I’ll catch ya online.

Social Media Marketing

July 20th, 2009

Hi Folks, hope you have been doing great. I’m doing great too, kinda living life online.

So guys, lend me your time and read this post for I’ll be talking about Ms. Social Media Marketing, who has created a lot of buzz around the online marketing world.

Just imagine, when almost all of the biggies like Vodafone, CNN, BBC, Nissan and the likes, for whom their brands themselves are a marketing agent, are using social media sites to promote the business, to be in touch with their consumers and most importantly to be alive in the memory of the customers, it becomes still more imperative for small, medium and new businesses to be active in various social media sites.

Not long ago, I was reading a white paper titled “Social Media Marketing Industry Report-How Marketers are Using Social Media to Grow Their Businesses” by Michael A. Stelzner. I indeed feel that the report (a survey through almost 900 marketers) is a must read for all the marketers wanting to use social media sites and also for the ones who are already in a marketing journey with social media tools.

“If you’re pondering starting social media marketing, it’s my hope that these findings will help push you over the edge. If you’re already onboard, feel free to examine what the really experienced marketers are doing (and use this study to persuade others),” says Michael A. Stelzner in the opening lines of his report.

Here’s a sneak-peek into the major findings of the report;

Top three questions marketers want answered: (1) What are the best tactics to use? (2) How to do I measure the effectiveness of social media? (3) Where do I start?

Marketers are mostly new to social media: A significant 88% of marketers surveyed are using social media to market their businesses, BUT 72% have only been doing so for a few months or less.

How much time does this take? A significant 64% of marketers are using social media for 5 hours or more each week and 39% for 10 or more hours weekly.

The top benefit of social media marketing: The number-one advantage, as indicated by 81% of all the marketers, is generating exposure for the business, followed by increasing traffic and search engine ranking, building new business partnerships and generating qualified leads and also reducing the overall marketing expense.

The top social media tools: Twitter, blogs, LinkedIn and Facebook were the top four social media tools used by marketers, in that order.

Social media tools marketers most want to learn about: Social bookmarking sites were ranked of highest interest, followed closely by Twitter.

Those of you who want to read the full report can read it here http://www.whitepapersource.com/socialmediamarketing/report/.

Well guys, let me tell you that there are quite a lot of social networking and social media sites mushrooming these days; and only if you have the time and patience you can be on everywhere. However, I feel it is wise to pick the best ones and be dedicated to them but no harm in using new ones, along with your favorites, too. Also, I would suggest you to keep the password same for all your accounts in various sites.

Hence, I’m gonna pick up my favorites that are contributing towards making Ms. Social Media Marketing a hot favorite.

  1. Twitter Tweets: Twitter is used by 94% of marketers who have been using social media for years. It is one of the coolest social networking and micro-blogging services that I’ve come across. Here all that you have to do is keep following the profiles of your interest (you’ll have your followers too), send and read text-based posts of up to 140 characters known as tweets. Tweets are displayed on your profile page and also get delivered to your followers.
  2. Face the Facebook: People, if you have not faced the Facebook yet, it’s high time you should face it, experience it and explore the marketing possibilities with it. Facebook enables you to connect with your friends, make new friends, create and join groups of interest, interact with fellow members. You can also create business profile for your product or service and build the fan base. As of today, 250 million people are using Facebook to stay updated. Facebook also offers paid advertising service like banner ads.
  3. You @ YouTube: YouTube is a video sharing website on which users (almost 100 million users-latest data) can upload and share videos. According to findings by comScore, an internet marketing research company, in January 2009:
    • U.S. Internet users viewed 14.8 billion online videos during the month, representing an increase of 4% versus December 2008.
    • 76.8% of the total U.S. Internet audience viewed online video.
    • 100.9 million Viewers watched 6.3 billion videos on YouTube.com (62.6 videos per viewer).

So if you can, at the earliest, post some good videos of your product/service/speech or whatever is interesting that can generate curiosity for your business in YouTube. You can post the same link to your various profiles in social media sites.

  4. Get linked through LinkedIn: LinkedIn is a business-oriented social networking site mainly used for professional networking. As of May 2009, it had more than 40 million registered users spanning 170 industries. The site will allow you to maintain a list of contact details of people you know and trust in business. The people in the list are called Connections. Connections, I tell you people, the ‘connections’ are really important for your business networking, building partnerships and generating leads.

Well, I sincerely hope that this post has helped you understanding the Social Media Marketing better. Social media marketing is also called social media optimization as it optimizes the visibility of your business in social media sites and subsequently pushes your search engine ranking.

Last but not least, I must warn you that social media also allows your rivals, disgruntled employees and the unhappy customers to communicate their negative comments on your product or service that can harm your business tremendously. Hey hang on! Before you feel let down let me tell you that the solution to this problem is through search engine reputation management which is by being active online, and using online marketing religiously. If your rival posts one negative comment, you can post 10 or more positive comments. This way the negative comments will be pushed down to the later pages of the search engines.

On a positive note, do keep in mind that Ms. Social Media Marketing is really fast, smart, user friendly and effective.

All right guys…we’ll meet in next post soon . Till then keep visiting this page and I’ll catch ya online!

An introductory tour to the leading actors of the most popular movie “Online Marketing”

So guys, I’m gonna take you through all the leading actors (read: factors) that make online marketing a successful movie (read: venture);

Ms. Social Media Marketing, Lead Female Actor

Lets’ start with the darling of all the marketers; she’s very social, friendly, effective, and fast too. She’s most popularly referred as “Social Media Marketing (SMM)” or “Social Media Optimization (SMO)”. She, generally, helps you and me with marketing our products and services through social media tools like Facebook, Twitter, Linked-In, Myspace, Stumble Upon, Digg, Delicious, and YouTube to name a few. That way she raises enough awareness for our products and services in social media and networking sites and lets the fans talk about our business and subsequently increase our website’s traffic.

Mr. Link Building Activity, Lead Male Actor

Next comes the most important pillar of search engine optimization activities and also of online marketing; he is cool, steady and business-minded too for he’ll not take any links for free, he would want your links to be exchanged in return and increase your link’s popularity on the web. He’s most popularly referred as “Link-building activity” or “Link-exchange program.”

Ms. Press Release, Supporting Actor

Well, not so far behind is the creative writers’ favorite; the press releases or the articles. There are hundreds of press releases and articles submitting sites, both free and paid. Well-written and content-rich press releases and articles released for free distribution have the potential of increasing your business’ credibility within its market as well as attracting new clients. Interestingly, the published links of your articles and press releases can be shared through various social media sites.

Mr. Blog & Mr. Forum, Supporting Actors

Last but the not the least is marketing through blogs and forums. There are plenty of blogs and forums for almost every topic under the sun. These are interactive media through which your business finds a platform to promote your products or services, discuss and analyze the customer base too.

As for Pay-Per Click Marketing, Organic Search Engine Optimization, Banner Ads, Affiliate Marketing and Newsletters, we’ve already posted the information here at Marketing Panther. Check out the other marketing methods.

Well guys, I sincerely hope that the introductory tour was interesting and has given you at least some understanding on how online marketing functions. The follow-up posts will take up each of the actors (read: factors) and discuss them at length.

Till then keep visiting this page and I’ll catch ya online!

It Feels Good to Be Alive

April 6th, 2008

It’s been a long time in the works, but boy does it feel good that Marketing Panther has finally arrived. No more calls from Mom asking if we’ve decided on a name yet. No more trips to the doctor’s office. It’s time to dig in.

My name is Jeff, and I’m the one behind the scenes here at Marketing Panther. I’m a Web designer who has been working in a marketing environment for over four years, and I’ve decided it was well past time to start sharing the knowledge I’ve gained along the way. This blog is a further extension of the research and resources you’ll find within marketingpanther.com. I’ll be highlighting my experiences working in the field, as they relate to mainly the online marketing world. While I feel there is still a lot of value in traditional marketing methods, the new online marketing trends are what really excites me. I’m always searching for new ways to promote and market online. I really love this stuff.

In this blog I’ll talk about different books, tools and Web sites that I’m currently using to promote my Web sites. You’ll be able to learn more about the industry of online marketing, and discover what works best for you.

For example, I read an article recently on A List Apart that describes a new field I had not heard of before. Findability really is the ignored stepchild that has been forever shadowed by his big brother, search engine optimization. We’re at the dawn of a new era of online marketing, and findability is going to play a huge role in the success or failure in the online world.

While we’ve been concentrating so much effort over recent years to ensure that the search engines find our Web sites, and that people can find them through the search engines, we’ve really missed the idea of how people may find our Web sites without the help of a search engine. There are a wealth of new avenues to pursue here, and the good news is most of the work you’ll end up doing to make your Web site more findable will probably help out your SEO position in the long run.

I think findability is going to open up a whole new world of potential promotion tools, and I’m really excited to get my hands on Aarron’s book.

A cool tool I just found is something that Google is still working on. Google has a lot of different tools in development, and they make them available for testing to the public at Google Labs. The particular tool I spent a little time with was Google Trends. This tool offers information on any search terms you enter, providing unique up to the minute results of what people are currently searching for. This can potentially be extremely valuable information, depending on how you use it.

Lastly, if you’re looking for a ton of options for optimizing your Web site, I’ve been using a list over at the Smashing Magazine Web site, that features a huge wealth of SEO tools. Take a look, there’s a lot of good stuff.

Well, it’s great to be here, I’m really looking forward to future posts, and new marketing opportunities for your and my business alike. Until next time, happy marketing. Growl.
